Nose pressed on the window of a rumbling jet
a snowy November glide from Seattle to Anchorage
sitting on the right for the best view. Gazing on endless mosaics,

THE BUTTE GIRLS CLUB – Debut Novel Release

June 1
Cavanaugh County Celtic Bookstore,
Park Street
Butte, MT United States

The Montana copper mining town of Butte, perched a mile-high, next to the Continental Divide in the Rocky Mountains, is fondly known as Butte, America. It’s famous for its rough-and-tumble mining culture, ethnic diversity, and its boom-and-bust history; its residents are fiercely proud of its unique eccentricities. “A bar and a church sits on every corner in Butte,” was an often heard comment in the 50s and 60s.

We follow a young girl as she narrates a humorous, naive perspective growing up in Butte. She finds her life is a challenge in kid-survival, and how it takes a town to ‘grow’ a kid when life’s tragedies hit at an early age. Kids can’t control their environment of endless empty beer cans and whiskey bottles, abandonment, and neglect. This story shows what happens when children have nothing to cling to when their unstable, unpredictable world doesn’t make sense; and how kids find hope no matter what the situation, as a resilient tribute to the human spirit.
